“If you’re a writer or designer or anybody who works at a computer or an office desk and you’ve been AVOIDING doing this for some dream aspiration of yours, set THIS MUG down at your workstation and don’t use it anywhere else. It is only for PUTTING YOUR ASS in that chair and doing the work.” - Steven Pressfield

Limited edition, 1/3 made in 2023. Roughly 17-19oz. size.

Mugs are glazed with 9 different colors. The mug interior is inspired by a spinning galaxy, created by layering custom glaze chemistry and kiln firing to 2280 degrees F. to create a 100% food safe, non-toxic mug that is meant to be used and enjoyed. Handle thumb spot is also inspired by a galaxy of cosmic colors.

The handle of the mug is inspired by the butterfly on the cover of Steve's book, representing transformation.

The mug face with text is inspired by Steve's advice to, "Face the blank page to beat Resistance."

The opposite side of the mug represents Resistance, with the look and feel inspired by both the blackness of outer space and a meteorite texture. Meteorites get their unique textures from fire, from hurling through the earth's atmosphere. Only through fire do we conquer Resistance.

Collectors Edition Book: Two bookplates, made from handmade paper by Sienna Cherrico, were mounted in the inside cover by the Cherrico Pottery Team, using archival glue. One bookplate signifies the book as a Collectors Edition, exclusively available here on mugsandbooks.com It bares an insignia that matches the mug. The second bookplate was sent to Steven Pressfield, autographed, then mounted in your book.

This mug is a collaboration between author Steven Pressfield (stevenpressfield.com) and potter Joel Cherrico (cherricopottery.com). Every mug ships with a copy of, "Put Your Ass Where Your Heart Wants To Be" by Steven Pressfield. Joel and Steven share all revenue from the sales of their collaborative art 50/50.

All pottery is handmade by Joel Cherrico and the Cherrico Pottery Team. All of our Stoneware and porcelain pottery is 100% food and non-toxic. Mugs are meant to be used and enjoyed daily. Mugs are dishwasher safe, but we recommend hand washing all pottery. Most mugs are microwave safe but some experimental colors might have metal colors that cause the pottery to be non-microwaveable.

Comfortable additions of clay on the handle help these mugs look and feel handmade, emphasizing how they were formed with Joel Cherrico's hands on a pottery kick-wheel. Finger marks on the bottom of each mug were left intentionally, showing how the pots were dipped in glaze by hand.

Pottery is inherently brittle compared to other, non-brittle materials like metal. If you hit your mug against a surface or drop it, it can break. Broken pottery cannot be repaired. But with careful use, pottery can remain identical for thousands of years.
